The Happy Hisers at Morris Arboretum. - Philadelphia Family Photographer

This is another one of my favorite families! I am truely blessed to be able to work with some really awesome people. I have been Photographing the “Happy Hiser’s” since their eldest was born. I’ve seen them at least once a year since and every time they just bring me such joy, always with a smile even if things are tough, they just keep smiling. I adore that.

This Family session we photographed at Morris Arboretum, this was my first time there so I let the family be my guide. It was so gorgeous there I will definitly go back! Morris Arboretum happens to be a very special place for them and I was happy to follow them around while they played together. They really are the cutest. The kids had an absolute blast running about, splashing in the fountains and showing me their favorite little spots. If you haven’t taken the kids to experience this place I would definitely suggest it, I’ll be taking my little guy.

A funny thing happened halfway through this Session, I realized Dad was wearing his work shirt, and I laughed. Not for any other reason than it brought me an amazing amount of joy that he was wearing it. Every one of the sessions I photographed with them, Dad was wearing a blue Covington Building Shirt. I laughed half because I know them so well I didn’t even take a second look at dad, and half because he owns who he is and that is amazing to me. He always has one of these shirts on whenever I see him and I felt it was just so fitting for him to be wearing it for this session as well. I told him if he had wore anything else I probably wouldn’t of recognized him!

My goal as a Photographer is to photograph a family for who they are, I don’t think anyone should try to be something they aren’t. These images are on your walls, if you dress yourself in a way that people don’t recognize you what is the point? I want to capture each family and family member for the individuals they are. Mom did a great job coordinating everyone’s outfits, Little man even worse his favorite Lightening McQueen Shoes, he was so happy to show them off to me. This little lady is “Queeny” who hangs on my studio wall, so her prettiest pink tutu dress was absolutely perfect, because that’s her.

Sometimes I think a lot of stress can be created with the Question “What do we wear?” My answer is always “pick a set of colors and work within them, make sure everyone is comfortable and their individuality is expressed.” I think a lot of people have a vision that the perfect family photo is where everyone looks “perfect” and matching, and I have to disagree. I think the perfect family portrait is when everyone is represented for who they are and they are happy and comfortable in their own skin. I think the comfort to be able to create and capture the family connection is much more important than any designer duds ever will be.

If this session doesn’t convince you of that I don’t know what will. The “Happy Hisers” Have the most amazing family connection I’ve ever seen!

Family Maternity Photoshoot with a Toddler in Bucks County PA ~ Newtown PA Photographer

Mom and I had been planning this maternity session for a while, almost as soon as she found out she was pregnant, it was in the works. The first question all moms with a toddler ask me is “How will I get my toddler to cooperate?” . Well there is a secret in my industry, that secret is, we go with it. For the most part Toddlers don’t pose, they really just don’t care about our agenda of getting great portraits, and that’s ok.

You would never know that this little guy was more interested in exploring his surroundings than celebrating the new baby brother that is on the way. When we met at this Bucks County Park, he was ecstatic to explore a fun new spot. He wanted down to explore, not to be held and smile at the camera. So you know what I did? I went with it! We played games, we sang songs (never underestimate the power of Baby Shark folks) and I worked with what he was doing. I gave him plenty of breaks to get just some of mama and daddy and then brought him back in for another game.

Having your toddler photographed does not have to be scary. It’s all about finding their groove and showcasing their funny little personality.

I’ve photographed this family for a while now and I really can’t wait to meet their newest little family member in a few weeks. Make sure to check back for the images from their Newborn session happening very soon!

Oh and the last image, I feel like he is walking into this big brother thing like “I got this!”

Bucks County Cherry Blossom Birthday Portraits - Yardley PA Child and Family Photographer

Sometimes plans fall through because of weather in my business. Which is exactly what happened with with session I recently photographed. We had plans of one location and a forcast that changed faster than a toddler changes their mind about what they want for snack. I diligently watched the weather for most of the day and then finally decided the chance of rain was just too high at the origional location and switched to a spot a friend had mentioned a few days before. We were sort of on a timeline so changing the date probably wouldn’t have worked. I never shoot at this location since it’s very busy with dog walkers and joggers but someone smiled on us that we didn’t have much in the way of distractions at all!

I knew we had gotten together for family portraits and then mom pulled out these gorgeous dresses and I knew we were going to have a hit on our hands. First of all you know I love a good majestic unicorn, so this was right up my alley! I adore how these images came out, how I was able to capture their personalities and sweet little moments between sisters. The Big sister was playing peek a boo with her younger sister and had her laughing so much. These two really are sweet together.

The Motherhood Event { Bucks County and Montgomery County PA Family Photographer }

Mommy & Me, Bucks County Photographer, Mongomery County, Abington, Willow Grove, Child Photography This year will be my second Mother's Day with my son and a lot has already changed since this time last year. A year ago I was snuggling him up in my arms for hours a day. This year I'm lucky if I can catch the little runner for a quick hug before he wiggles right back out of my arms and continues on his way. He grew as fast as everyone said he would, but it still seems unbelievable. I'm thankful for the images I have created with him as he grew. My Favorites are the shots of him and I together, because I am always taking the pictures (obviously) I rarely get in them myself, yes I'm guilty of this too. Last June I did a Nursing shoot with a friend of mine and also got a couple with him on the beach in September. The pictures that aren't taken on my phone are such a blessing to me. The clarity, color, and depth of an image taken with a real camera by a professional is an undeniable gift. I'm so happy that my calling in life was to create images to capture these quick little moments in the lives of others. These images are just glorious in print, something that phone pics rarely get made into.

It's time to upgrade from those selfies ladies. It's time to invest in a beautiful portrait of you and your child(ren). I know what you are thinking, "Once I loose the baby weight." Please stop thinking like that!  Now is the best time, trust me, those kids love you how you are, more than you know. They love your "mom bod", because you are their mom and none of that other stuff matters to them. There will always be an excuse, there will always be a reason for you to push it off. Here is a reason to stop finding reasons, they are growing so fast before you know it they will be off to college and then building a family of their own. Yes, that itty bitty baby in your arms will be off setting the world on fire with their brilliance one day. It's really going to go THAT fast. I've had enough clients return and I'm blown away by how quickly their kiddos have grow into teens.  Don't miss out on this age. Don't miss out on the tiny hands in yours and the snuggles that only mommy gets. You are their WORLD. Who really cares about a couple extra pounds when you put it in that perspective?

From now until the end of May I'm holding the Motherhood event. These are DEEPLY Discounted sessions. I'm so passionate about getting Mom in the picture with the kids that I'm giving you files and a session for the same price a normal session fee is.  The Motherhood Event is a special that can be booked any day between today and the end of May, so it's totally flexible to book according to your schedule. I will have a couple of my favorite spots to choose from so you can also choose the location! If I made this any easier I would dress you too. Oh wait, everyone who books will get a clothing guide to help you pick the best pieces for your shoot.

So what are you waiting for? If you don't hop on this someone else will and take your spot. There are always a couple popular times such as weekends and evenings that go first. I'm also a little limited on how many of these I can shoot, May is already a busy month and I only have so many covered baby sitting days. ( You know how that is right?)

Outdoor Family Sessions Bucks County PA

Print It's that time of year again, the week after the Fourth of July when summer seems to start coming to an end. Very soon we will see school supplies in Target and recent graduates on their way off to college. It seems Summer is ending earlier and earlier every year and pumpkin spice shows up before we know it.

Now is when I encourage families to get together for their annual family portraits, before the kids go off to college and the little ones start their busy school sport schedules.  The end of Summer is a beautiful time for a family portrait, the parks are bathed in lush green foliage, and  the botanical gardens are still blooming. The beautiful greens really look amazing hanging on the wall as a canvas or framed portrait and even in the dead of winter, remind you of the warm summer sunshine.

Family sessions include multiple shots of the family all together as well as smaller groups and individuals of the kids. Not only is the end of summer a great time for families but equally great for maternity portraits and annual portraits of just the kids. We are so lucky to live in beautiful Bucks County PA. We have access to fields of golden grasses and wild flowers as well as amazing botanical gardens and even urban areas. Bucks County has really great diversity when it comes to photo shoot locations.  Here are some images from some of my favorite outdoor summer sessions. Enjoy!

Mom & Dad C | Newtown PA Maternity Photographer

I have had the pleasure of knowing and photographing this couple for a few years now, and I was super excited when I heard they were expecting. If they look familiar it is probably because I photographed their pregnancy announcement back in December (you can view it here). I always go back and forth with my clients to figure out what really will fit them as far as style. I asked this "mom-to-be" if she would like to do some wrapped style shots and she was all about it, I quickly suggested that because of her red hair we wrap her in green, and I'm so happy I did. I can't even express how in love with this session I am. Miss C is 3 | Doylestown Birthday Photographer

I've been Photographing little Miss C since she was 9 months old. It's always amazing to me how quickly these little folks grow up, it's exciting that every time I get to see them they are always bigger and more mature. When we scheduled this session for her third birthday portraits, in the back of my mind I was hoping that my favorite field of wild flowers would be in bloom. These Virginia Blue Bells only bloom for around one week in the spring, with the crazy warm weather we had a few week earlier I couldn't be sure I would be able to promise the wild flowers ahead of time. We really got lucky and the whole field was in full bloom! I had such fun photographing this session and I'm really happy with the results!

Warminster PA Maternity and Newborn Photographer

Very rarely do I get the chance to say that mother nature is really on my side, especially in the summer months. Often my summer sunset sessions are threatened by crazy thunderstorms, which we get so very often and randomly this time of year. Now, when a client has requested portraits in a large open field, the chance of a severe thunderstorm makes me a bit nervous, as we generally are the tallest things in the field at the top of the hill. This Maternity session was up in the air, up until about an hour before, when the weather service cleared the chance of a severe storm. I was so relieved that we didn't have to postpone till the following Saturday, and at the time little did I know their little lady was going to be making her big debut a bit earlier than originally expected. So Mother Nature really was on our side that day, because if we would have postponed they never would of gotten their maternity session. Also less than a week later the township mowed down the tall grass in the fields and made them into hay bales, I never see that coming! The Friday after we photographed the maternity session little Miss E arrived. This little lady is also a member of our studio Baby plan, so you will be seeing a lot more of her over the next year. This may be the first time that I get to share both a maternity and a newborn session in the same blog post with you. I hope you enjoy!

Years ago I photographed these two for their engagement portraits, a few weeks ago we met up to photograph their Maternity session. I was so excited to hear they were pregnant and was really excited to photograph this session. It was something a little different for me, normally my clients want a woodsy nature session, but these two wanted to roam New Hope for more of an urban style. I've done walk about sessions before with a friend of mine last year when she was expecting her son. I really enjoy being able to think on my feet and use the environment and natural light to create some really beautiful shots. Since the light and environment is always changing you always get something different so no two walk about sessions are alike. A shop owner may decide to change the color of a wall or add a few potted plants outside his shop, so the next time you go by it's a totally different feeling as a location and background. It's a great challenge to shoot this style of session and a challenge I greatly Enjoy! New Hope Bucks County PA Maternity Portraits Delaware River | WonderlandPortrait.com

Waiting for baby C | Yardley Maternity & Family Photographer

A few months back I found out that this family was expecting their second child, a little girl. I was super excited for them, since I know them so well, I've been photographing their older daughter since she was just 3 months old. She is one funny little girl, for a while now she has called me Ms. Doughnut, I don't know if she can't say Dana or if she associates me with trips to the Coffee shop up the street, either way I find it hilarious.  I can't wait to see her with her new little sister this coming fall, I think she will be an excellent big sister. Mr. E is Three! |Superhero Birthday | Richboro PA Birthday Photographer

Some sessions I am reminded of the endless amount of energy kids possess, this was one of those sessions. Mr. E is fast, like a speeding bullet, and has an amazing superhero narrative in his head. Just like a superhero he was ready to help me at a seconds notice, and get into "disguise" to fight evil doers. I met him and his family at Tyler State Park in Newtown PA and at first he was really shy, but it did not take him too long to open up and start having a great time. I knew that mom was bringing along his favorite set of capes that his grandmom had sew for him and that he loved to wear them. We started off with some formal family photos and then let him have some fun with his costumes. He showed off some of his flying skills and his best Batman and Captain America Poses for me, then we were off to the field. I had brought along my favorite little red radio flyer tricycle that was just his size, and he loved it.

This has to be one of the favorite sessions I've photographed lately, I really love this age. While they can be crazy fast and change directions often, I love that they are so uninhibited. I love that a three year old will just show you who they are and be them self. He loved pretending that he was super when he put that cape on, and had no qualms about it.

There is no "perfect" picture when you are photographing children, but there is an honest picture. A picture that shows them, and who they are at this age, they may not be perfectly posed and that's ok. I mean really how often are two and three year olds actually sitting still in one spot? It's honestly a rarity that I get more than five minutes of being able to instruct them on what to do.  Mr. E did great with my suggestions on which game we should play next and that really let his personality shine. Through our interaction I was able to capture amazing action and personality.

Check out the great time he had during our Super Session at the Park.

Mr. H Turns One! | Yardley Birthday Photographer

A year really does go by incredibly quick when it comes to children and aging. I tell people this almost daily but, even I forget sometimes. When Mr. H's Mom emailed me to set up his first birthday session I thought for sure she must be a couple months early in planning, it couldn't of been a year since his Newborn session could it? You probably remember him, he is my little Rock and Roll baby from last May. He was so small for his newborn session we were able to put in in a snare drum. In fact I have the Guitar picture below on my studio wall in canvas, it's still one of my favorites. Rock and Roll Newborn Pictures Ideas Philadelphia Bucks County PA WonderlandPortrait.com

Yup. A lot has changed in a year as well, he hasn't just grown he's become very fast. We met up at a local garden in Bucks County PA to photograph some family photos as well as birthday portraits of just Mr. H. As always I started with the Family then him with just his Mom and one with just his Dad. Once he realized that he could walk around he really got comfortable and wanted to explore. We had the "formal" family shots out of the way, so we let him go and I captured some great little personality shots of him. By the end I was calling him "the man of many faces", because he has some great expressions. A few times I captured the image and had to take a moment to control my laughter, he had just the funniest expressions, and they only lasted for a second. The faces I captured are just golden. Mom and Dad are going to have great memories to share with him if he ever out grows this expressive face stage.  As you look through the photos below be prepared to giggle at the expressive faces of Mr.H. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Mommy & Me | Breastfeeding Portraits |

Since my friend Rhianna had her son back in November we've been talking about how she would love to do breastfeeding portraits. I have done a few in the past but the moms wanted to keep them private, which I totally understand and respect. Rhianna is probably one of the most open people I have ever met and told me I could post whatever I wanted. This was a really exciting session to plan. We had these photos planned for later in the week, but I stumbled across this amazing field of flowers while out on my daily walk in the park. I called her right away squealing and praying that she was available that night, since I had no idea how long they would last. Thankfully her schedule allowed some time that evening to get together. For something last minute it truly turned out Magical. When I photograph a mother feeding her child I always try to focus on the bond that they share, that is truly what breastfeeding portraits are all about. Now I know there are people out there who will dismiss this post as gross, weird or disgusting, but I REALLY beg to differ. I was breastfed as a baby and I hope with the grace of God my body allows me to do the same for my children one day. This is not a post to put down those who choose not to breastfeed or are unable to do so. I understand that not everyone's body allows it. I also understand in this crazy world we live in not everyone can invest the time and energy into such a time consuming and sometime frustrating process. Breastfeeding is hard, and it takes great dedication and determination.

This post is to help normalize breastfeeding. To the people who say that seeing a woman breastfeeding in public is gross, I say don't look, that issue belongs to you, she is doing nothing wrong. Every other culture around the world sees breastfeeding as a normal, natural process of a woman nurturing her child. For some strange reason here in the US women are shamed for it, I just don't understand our culture. Very often when photographing Newborns, moms cover up, as to not offend me or ask me if I mind that they breastfeed, my answer is always the same "If it doesn't bother you, it doesn't bother me." Then I proceed to hold a normal conversation with them while the baby nurses.  My dream is to see a country that women no longer have to ask permission to feed their child, where they aren't gawked at like a circus sideshow while their child nurses and most of all where people stop calling breastfeeding gross. This is the choice that these moms made, why can't we as a culture support that choice?

So this Mother's Day weekend let celebrate this. Let's make a conscious choice to support all moms in their decisions, whether it is to breastfeed or whether breastfeeding wasn't for her. Every Mom is fighting a hard battle everyday, these are choices they've agonized over. Just because I support Normalizing Breastfeeding does not mean that I do not support a mother who couldn't or chose not to breastfeed. Every woman's choice in this matter is her own and how dare anyone for shaming or prosecuting them for it. As the old saying goes "Mother knows best."

The C Family| Fall Family in Bucks County | Newtown PA Family Photographer

I photographed the C Family a few weeks ago, I've been trying ever since to share this session with all of you. Right now I'm in the busiest season of the year, so unfortunately blog posts have been falling by the wayside while I push out big card orders and holiday gifts. I'm very happy to say that many folks booked early this year and I'm finally getting back into sharing all these great sessions with you. The day I photographed this family I was so very worried that it was going to be cold and windy, and it was actually one of the warmer late fall days that we had this year. We really lucked out with the weather, which was perfect since we had to walk for a little bit to get to one of my favorite spots in the park.  They were great fun, and this little lady is just full of personality.  Mom and Dad were great sports about my crazy ideas, which of course included throwing piles of leave in the air above their one year old who was in a super cute outfit. I'm glad they were because little lady loved the leaves and had a great time playing in them. I'm happy that I was able to achieve both traditional family shots as well as dreamy fairytale individuals of little miss. I just adore the few by the tree, the texture is amazing and the lashes on this little girl are to die for. It was very hard to narrow down this session to just a few to share, she did very well, even with all the distractions in the park. We did have to stop once to watch a big doggy walk by, but otherwise she is a little pro.

After we finished at the park, we headed back to the studio for some cake smash photos. I'll be posting part two of the sessions soon.

Wrightstown Fall Family Photographer

It's been a very busy few weeks at the studio. Christmas is upon us and it's not even Thanksgiving yet! Sadly in a blink of an eye, all the leaves are pretty much gone and we are expecting snow in the next few days, where did our gorgeous autumn go?  As a reminder of how amazing our fall here in Pennsylvania can be, I wanted to share this awesome, fun, family session from a couple weeks ago.  I honestly feel that these guys should be in a magazine, they are just gorgeous and were so fun to work with! This amazing big sister really lives up to her title, she could not get enough of holding and snuggling her little brother, and he really did not mind all the attention in the least bit. The W Family | Richboro PA Family Photographer

I had such a blast photographing these three little firecrackers! A little man and his two big sisters, each one with their own very unique personality. This was probably one of my first fall sessions this year that the cold really set in for and these three were such troopers even when the wind would blow. As with all of my fall sessions with little ones, we ended by throwing leaves. This seemed to be the kids' favorite part and I'm so happy I could capture that joy on their faces. Enjoy! Mr. T | Richboro Birthday Photographer

Today I am back from a Week of Vacation (Mini Blog post to follow), while I was away  I scheduled a few picture posts on my Facebook page. They were Rather Popular posts so here are a few more of my little buddy. You may recognize this guy from my blog post about how I find some of my best locations. We looked all over Bucks County for the perfect location for this 3rd Birthday Session but, this awesome little spot was actually in his own back yard, which made him super comfortable during the entire session. Mom and Dad jumped in on the fun as well for a few quick family shots.  I really Love this session, to me, it screams what it's like to be a 3 year old boy. Splashing in puddles, trying to catch creepy crawly things in Jars, playing with Cars in the driveway, and just generally goofing around with Dad.

Waiting for Baby M | Yardley PA Lifestyle Maternity Photographer

This has to be one of my new favorite maternity sessions. I had the distinct pleasure of being invited into the home of this lovely couple, to photograph their excitement for the baby girl they are expecting in the coming weeks.  Even though this will be the first human child in the house, their two fur babies also joined in on the in home photo shoot. Stella & Scruffy were such sweet little pups, who always wanted to be where the action was.  It was great being able to use their home as the backdrop to tell the story of them waiting for their new little girl, including her gorgeous new nursery which is perfect for a princess. (Check out the door knob below, I'm in love.)  Mom has a beautiful attention to detail when it comes to decorating and this nursery does not disappoint. Eventually we made our way outside for a couple fun pool side images, I even coaxed mom into the pool! Waiting for Baby G { Newtown Maternity Photographer }

As often as I complain about being cold (which is often and I'm sorry) I do love the look of freshly fallen snow, in fact I purchased snow pants JUST so I could comfortably photograph sessions in the snow.  I was very excited when Beth and Gary approached me to photograph their maternity and newborn sessions. When a Client says this to you: "I know I don't want to do all normal Maternity pictures I like to be different and creative... I want originality and I know that's you to a "T" and I'm so happy I have you as my photographer."  That is every creative person's dream.  I adore when clients trust me to create something wonderful for them. My head is filled with ideas that I don't always get to implement because well they sound a little crazy at first. Kind of like " I want to put you in a snowy field bare shouldered wrapped in red fabric", sometimes that scares folks, but not Beth she was all for it and I was thrilled. I'm equally thrilled with how everything came out. I've had this idea tucked in the back of my mind for quite some time now.  We've all seen images of Cardinals sitting on a branch of a snowy tree and that is kind of where I found the inspiration to go with red, I considered purple but I really wanted Beth to stand out and be the main focus. Beth and Gary were expecting a baby girl this April, I've known them both for a long time and have photographed them numerous times already. I was thrilled to hear that they were pregnant. For the baby's nursery they have a jungle/safari/camo theme, so they painted this great letter "G" to hang in the baby's room, it was awesome to utilize that throughout the session, making it even more personal.  It is certainly a good thing we photographed this session when we did, Miss Gwendolyn arrived just 5 days after. She was 6 weeks early, but from what I've heard from Mom and Dad she was just ready for the world. Everyone is doing great and I can't wait to meet the aptly named Gwendolyn Snow for her newborn session in a few weeks.

Mr. T's Construction Birthday ( Newtown Children's Portrait Photographer Bucks County PA )

As I stare out my office window at the frozen Tundra that is my backyard, I dream of the warmer weather that is just months away. I love Christmas and all the other holidays thrown in with it, but that's about it when it comes to the winter for me. I'd rather be on the warm beach reading a book than trekking through a snow cover forest( though it is really pretty and fun to photograph the novelty wear quickly with me). Thankfully during the summer and early fall I had some great shoots, and I saved them. I knew there would come a day over this winter that I would be "over it". So, I squirreled away a few images to remind myself and others of the warmth that is on it's way back even if it doesn't seem like it while the snow rages outside of my window. Today I have a little guy that I have been photographing since day one. Many of you know him as "tire baby" because I actually used a dragster slick in his newborn session. Which I would like to point out was photographed in my small apartment kitchen my first year in business, I was also the second floor apartment. His father carried this thing all the way up stairs and then polished the rim for the session. I have never doubted these parents in their dedication to having great portraits, they are a pleasure to work with because they truly enjoy the experience and contribute some great things. Well this year was Mr."T"'s second birthday and right now he loves all things construction, he was also going through that super shy toddler phase and didn't know what to make of me.

We had quite a time finding an appropriate location for a construction session, short of trespassing on an active work site we were stumped. Finally in the 11th hour mom & dad found a friend who had some equipment parked and said it would be fine for us to shoot in his yard. Score!! After we got "T" comfortable he was climbing all over that thing and running all about like a crazy little two year old should, though his is a very deep thinker at the same time and often paused to see what I was doing.
