The Smoores - Family Photoshoot in Bucks County PA - Newtown PA Photographer

Washington-Crossing-PAFamily Photographer

I have photographed this family for so long, I’ve seen the eldest daughter grow up since she was about 1 or 2. It really sneaks up on me how quickly these kids are growing up. I ask mom what the eldest daughter’s age was and had to catch my breath when she said 13! I then proceeded to tell the girl that she needs to stop growing because I can’t handle it.

It still amazes me that we are so quickly at the point of photographing their year two family session that came with their baby plan. It feels like yesterday I was photographing a newborn session for their youngest daughter and I had her posed in a bucket now she’s a little read headed Firecracker. She’s a super funny little girl and believe it or not she decided the day of our session was a great day for a nap strike. Yep, that’s right that little firecracker did not take a nap, and we still got great pictures! Things happen with toddlers, all the time, that is my life. Over the years I’ve learned to adapt pretty well to the ups and downs of toddlerism. I’m always adapting to their mood and trying new things to get the perfect expression I’m looking for, weather that is a big smile, silly grin, or a sweet little pout. Toddlers can be challenging sometimes but other times they can surprise you and be little models, that’s the fun in it. I adore a good challenge and feel so accomplished when I get THE shot!

Family Maternity Photoshoot with a Toddler in Bucks County PA ~ Newtown PA Photographer

Mom and I had been planning this maternity session for a while, almost as soon as she found out she was pregnant, it was in the works. The first question all moms with a toddler ask me is “How will I get my toddler to cooperate?” . Well there is a secret in my industry, that secret is, we go with it. For the most part Toddlers don’t pose, they really just don’t care about our agenda of getting great portraits, and that’s ok.

You would never know that this little guy was more interested in exploring his surroundings than celebrating the new baby brother that is on the way. When we met at this Bucks County Park, he was ecstatic to explore a fun new spot. He wanted down to explore, not to be held and smile at the camera. So you know what I did? I went with it! We played games, we sang songs (never underestimate the power of Baby Shark folks) and I worked with what he was doing. I gave him plenty of breaks to get just some of mama and daddy and then brought him back in for another game.

Having your toddler photographed does not have to be scary. It’s all about finding their groove and showcasing their funny little personality.

I’ve photographed this family for a while now and I really can’t wait to meet their newest little family member in a few weeks. Make sure to check back for the images from their Newborn session happening very soon!

Oh and the last image, I feel like he is walking into this big brother thing like “I got this!”

Bucks County Cherry Blossom Birthday Portraits - Yardley PA Child and Family Photographer

Sometimes plans fall through because of weather in my business. Which is exactly what happened with with session I recently photographed. We had plans of one location and a forcast that changed faster than a toddler changes their mind about what they want for snack. I diligently watched the weather for most of the day and then finally decided the chance of rain was just too high at the origional location and switched to a spot a friend had mentioned a few days before. We were sort of on a timeline so changing the date probably wouldn’t have worked. I never shoot at this location since it’s very busy with dog walkers and joggers but someone smiled on us that we didn’t have much in the way of distractions at all!

I knew we had gotten together for family portraits and then mom pulled out these gorgeous dresses and I knew we were going to have a hit on our hands. First of all you know I love a good majestic unicorn, so this was right up my alley! I adore how these images came out, how I was able to capture their personalities and sweet little moments between sisters. The Big sister was playing peek a boo with her younger sister and had her laughing so much. These two really are sweet together.

Motherhood { Bucks County PA Family Photographer }

As a Photographer one thing I hear over and over again is the term “I Wish” usually followed by a missed opportunity that can’t be recreated.

They often go like this:

“I wish I would have taken maternity pictures” or

“I wish I would have gotten pictures when the kids were still tiny” or

“I wish I would have gotten pictures of just my husband and I”

Often one “I Wish” I hear from moms is “I Wish I had more Pictures of just me and the kids, I’m always the one taking them”.

Another HUGE Comment is

“I wish I had more pictures with my mom.”

Someday pictures are all we are going to have. I began my business with my mission to get women in front of my lens for their children.

It was inspired by someone I know who’s only existing photo of her mom was of her mom trying to hide behind someone and from the camera.

Her mother had past suddenly and that was the only picture of her mom that existed.

At a young age this struck a cord with me.

Every chance I get, I try to get a few decent photos with a real camera of Lincoln and I. Yes, I take snapshots and selfies with silly filters but those are not going to be the images he treasures when he is a man.

The images we will treasure are the ones that show our love.

My favorite images (and the ones that make me tear up) are the shots that we are connecting, when he’s looking deep in my eyes with a knowing look that I will never let anyone hurt him.

As well as the images that he’s laughing and giving me the smile that he reserves just for his Mama. Those are the ones that I will treasure and he will keep close to his heart and be able to show his children and grandchildren.

You see, portraits aren’t just for us, they are for our children and grandchildren. Portraits are for future generations, they will tell our stories.

When you imagine years from now, your son or daughter saying “This is my mom and I” What kind of picture do you want them to be holding in their hand?

I for one don’t want my story told with a face warping cat eared snap chat filter (not how I want to be known when I’m a great grandma). I beautiful classic portrait that I can hang on the wall and place a print into a family photo album is essential for my story, and my son’s story to be told to future generations.

Ok yeah, I get a little soap boxy about this, but it’s something I’m TRULY Passionate about.

Now along with all the “wishes” I hear as a photographer I also hear a lot of excuses. “I’ll do it when I loose 20 lbs.” “Ugh. I hate having my picture taken.” “We have so much going on with school and sports I just don’t have time.”

Excuses. Excuses. Excuses.

NOW is the best time to do this. Children don’t keep, tomorrow they may no longer fit in the pants you just bought last week. If your a mom you know the struggle of sudden growth spurts!

What you look like now is part of your story and who your kids know as their mama. We all go through seasons in this crazy life. Hard times and beautiful times, but one thing is constant, time keeps marching on. There will never be a perfect time. There just won’t be. Something will always seem to get in the way.

Sometimes that thing is ourselves and our insecurities. Your kids, LOVE YOU, just as you are. You are their MAMA. You are their world. They do not care now or 20 years from now if you aren’t the weight you were before they were born. You are beautiful, they can see that, now its your turn.

For those who “Hate” having their picture taken, I challenge you to get out of your comfort zone.

Come have a little fun with me. Let’s get you and the kids playing, dancing, and snuggling.

I will just lightly guide you and just capture your real authentic moments with your kids.

Create images that show their silly little personalities and the love in their eyes for you and yours for them. It doesn’t have to be awkward and uncomfortable, give it a chance.

I will admit, I often use the excuse “I don’t have time”. I’ve been trying to get better with how I devote my time recently. I’m a closet work-a-holic, I spend so much of my time thinking about work and all the things that need to get done. This isn’t fair to my little guy.

We need to find time for the things we actually value, things are an investment in our families futures. We live in a society that seems to reward busy. We feel guilty when we aren’t busy, we practically don’t know what to do with ourselves.

I’ve made it a point to schedule more time and adventures with my son. In fact one of those adventures is a photo session with a friend. I can not wait to find my favorite image from that session and have it framed.

Everyday I look at the framed photo of Lincoln and I from when he was 6 months old and I was 50lbs heavier and I still love it.

So you see, I’m writing this blog post out of experience.

Two years ago I was that mom who desperately wanted photos of my baby and I but was so self conscious about my weight that I almost didn’t bother.

I get it. I do.

I’ve come to the realizations that I’ve listed above. My son loves me weather I am 50lbs heavier or a weight I’m more comfortable with. He Loves me when I don’t always love myself or when I’m anxious about a situation. He loves me when I make it a point to do something special with him and leave the busy behind.

He Loves me.

And I love him with a love no one can describe. If you are a parent you know the love I’m talking about. It’s a love that makes you go out of the way for your children’s happiness.

So Mom, please consider celebrating this crazy life we call motherhood with me. Allow me to capture the beautiful relationship between you and your children.

These aren’t “just pictures” these are an investment in how your story is told years from now. Please trust a professional. My 15 years of experience as a photographer and my few years as a mama, help me to know exactly what images to capture that you will treasure for generations to come.

Click here to Schedule one of my exclusive Motherhood Minis Or HERE to Schedule a custom full hour session at the location of your choice.

My Son and I. Do I look “Perfect”? Nope. But look at that expression on his face and the moment he’s sharing with his mama. Y’all, I just put this on the internet… Sorry not sorry as the kids say.

My Son and I.

Do I look “Perfect”? Nope. But look at that expression on his face and the moment he’s sharing with his mama. Y’all, I just put this on the internet… Sorry not sorry as the kids say.

Happy Birthday Mr. P { Doylestown PA Child Photographer First Birthday }

Little Mr P I’ve been Photographing since before he was born, beginning with his parent’s maternity session at Tyler State Park a little more than a year ago. He is one of my Baby planners and I’ve had the pleasure of watching him grow this fist year. Recently I photographed his first birthday portraits and cake smash in my Bucks County portrait studio. He was absolutely wonderful, giving me a full range of different expressions and smashing his cake like a pro. Here are a few of my favorite images from Mr. P’s first birthday portraits.

Dana's favorite things for baby's first year.

The registry. It’s a Daunting task. What do you actually need for your baby? What is going to get used for a couple weeks and then will go to the garage to collect dust? It’s really hard to figure out and it’s really overwhelming with all the fancy baby gadgets out there. This post contains affiliate links.

When I did my registry it was in a time of Babies R Us, I was also registered at Target, both stores had very different items and price points that I wanted. So I had two lists but this made it very confusing for some of my friends and family. I think these days the meca for us all is Amazon, and I realized after a friend set her’s up that you can have an Amazon Baby Registry. Ummm, Mind Blown. Yeah it’s probably common knowledge but I don’t think it was really a thing when I had Link. Not only can you have a registry there but you can also add things from websites other than Amazon! So that really cute item you loved on Etsy or at Target, add it to this Universal list and bam it’s all in one place. Easy Peasy.

You can Create your Amazon Baby Registry Here.

I’ve put together a quick List of some of my Favorite Baby items, all but one of these items I have personally used with my son and I don’t know how I would of lived with out it that first year!

The Baby Shusher

Silly name, yes, but it describes exactly what it is. Simplicity I like that. When you are fumbling around at 2am trying to get baby back to sleep the last thing you need to be doing is messing around with a whole bunch of buttons. The Baby Shusher is a simple turn dial at both the top and the bottom, super easy to use. It has one job and that is to Shush the baby, that’s it. As a Newborn Photographer I keep one of these in my studio to use during Newborn sessions, before the Newborn Shusher I was doing all the shushing and let me tell you that starts to hurt after a couple hours. The Baby Shusher is such a life saver for both new parents and Newborn Photographers alike.

Gripe Water

Gripe water is something I personally used with my own son and used almost everyday to help him with gas and fussiness. It is a herbal supplement designed to relieve stomach discomfort from gas, colic, fussiness, and hiccups. He loved the taste of it and never gave me trouble when I would give it to him and it always helped him feel better.

Aquaphor Diaper Rash Ointment

This is THE BEST Diaper rash ointment. It is the only thing that worked on my little guy’s terrible diaper rashes once he started solid foods. I tried so many others and none of them gave me the results that this did. When it says it clears a diaper rash in 6 hours they aren’t kidding. If he would have a rash from something he ate, I’d put some of this on before bed and by the next morning he would be all cleared up! My guy is two and I still used this ointment every diaper change, it makes a great barrier to keep the rashes away as well. I keep the big tub in the nursery and this one in my Diaper Bag.

Screen Shot 2019-03-21 at 3.26.57 PM.png

Sophie the Giraffe

So this little baby teether is probably the best baby teether I have seen. My Son LOVED his Sophie. She went everywhere with us and he chewed on it constantly. It’s soft enough to be a comfort friend and solid enough to really work through some of those new teeth but not super hard. I often wiped Sophie down with a baby wipe or water wipe to keep her clean and the paint never came off and she held up very very well. In fact we still have her in his keepsake box.

Screen Shot 2019-03-11 at 3.52.05 PM.png

A Nursery Care Kit

So at my core I’m a simple girl, I don’t like a lot of stuff. It’s a harsh reality when you have a baby because they honestly need a lot of stuff. Thankfully most of it is small stuff so having things in cases really makes my heart sing. I loved the organization of this kit when I had my son. It was easy to remember in the middle of the night where the thermometer was or the Boogie Sucker because it came in it’s own little bag that I kept on his dresser so it was always close at hand and I LOVED that!

Screen Shot 2019-03-11 at 3.51.37 PM.png

A Backpack Diaper Bag

Trust me on this BUY THE BACK PACK. With all the things you need to take everywhere with you those first few weeks a Back pack diaper bag makes that SO much easier. If you are small like me you will have enough trouble with carrying the baby in the car seat, you don’t need to add a diaper bag falling off your shoulder to that mix. Having everything on your back makes balancing the car seat easier and frees up your other hand for things like opening doors and carrying coffee (trust me there will be a lot of coffee those first couple weeks/years). The great thing about back packs is that they grow with the kids so once you hit toddler years and you’re only bringing an outfit or two as back up it frees up space for more toys in the diaper bag. Space is paramount. They also make them in all kind of stylish patterns and colors now, so they are even fashionable!

A Baby Carrier

The first couple weeks you want to hold your baby all the time but you also want to get things done and be useful again. At least that’s how I felt. I had a C-section and got really tired of sitting around doing nothing really quickly. That’s where a baby carrier came to my rescue! My son loved to be held and be close to his mama and he still does, we have a great bond from always being close in those first few weeks. I didn’t want to be bothered with tying a wrap or wearing him a more structured carrier, which honestly made me feel like I was going hiking not a quick trip to Target. Carriers like this Baby Ktan are awesome and totally fulfilled my needs to keep my hands free while still being close to my son.

After a few weeks of using a Ktan style carrier I moved on to a Ring Sling, which was my absolute favorite for ease of use. I kept it threaded through the rings and hooked over the head rest of the back seat, which made it so easy to put on and put him in straight out of the car seat. You can use ring slings with newborn babies all the way to toddler. This Ring Sling is rated to hold babies from 8-35lbs!

I was a nursing mama and quite a few times I was able to nurse discretely and still easily shop while he was in the carrier. I “wore” my little guy most of the time while out in public, it was so much easier than food shopping with a car seat in the cart and worrying the box of Cherrios may fall on him. Baby wearing also allows you to get more places than taking a stroller along, such as if you were at a street fair or flea market, getting through crowds is just easier. I highly recommend baby wearing for so many reasons, I really feel it made my life so much easier that first year!

Screen Shot 2019-03-11 at 2.44.38 PM.png

A Bath Thermometer

I like my baths Hot but I always worried I was making the baby’s bath too cold because I was scared of burning him or that I was making it too hot because I was so used to hot water. I ended up getting this really cute Stingray bath thermometer and I still use it today. It’s super cute and worked really well. He loved playing with it and watching it float on the surface of the tub when he was a little guy. Best part was the clearly displayed temperature and the blinky red light when the bath water was just too hot for baby, absolutely fool proof way to get the best temperature for bath time. Made it easy to figure out the precise temperature he liked his bath to be.

Screen Shot 2019-03-11 at 2.44.15 PM.png

Drool Bibs

All babies drool, some more than others, but it’s always nice to keep the cute outfits cute and not soaked through. That’s where Drool bibs come in. Now you can just go with an old school plastic backed bib but they aren’t always absorbent enough and certainly aren’t cuddly enough. I preferred these adorable bandana style bibs that added a little style to his outfit to the boring old style bibs that my mother put on me. Whats great about these is they are lined with fleece which makes them cuddly but also keeps them absorbent and baby’s clothes dry. They come in multipacks so there is always one to go with the outfit of the day. There are options for both Boys and Girls.

Screen Shot 2019-03-11 at 2.43.41 PM.png

A Baby Book

One thing I really regret is not buying a standard baby book. I had this idea of grandeur that I would scrapbook his first year or create a photo book online. Well he’s two and I still just have an envelope of “baby book stuff”. I think it would of been so much easier to fill in a guided book like this one. Also this book is so gorgeous and can work for a little boy or little girl. Obviously not all baby books are super cheesy with funny cartoons, they have heard our call and are making beautiful classy memory books for us style conscious Mamas. So don’t be like me, go with the easy pre-made baby book, it’s better to have those memories written down than to forget them.

He's growing up too fast! (Newtown PA Child Photographer, Birthday Photos)

How did we get here? This past weekend my little boy turned two. It’s almost unbelievable to me that my son is two years old already. It’s been a very, very fast two years, its gone by in a flash and frankly I don’t like it. (hahaha) He’s a wild, snugly, car loving little crazy one and I wouldn’t want him any other way. I’m so glad i’m his mama and I really can’t wait to see who he grows up to be, but just slow down little man.

Tiniest Eagles Fan

I Photographed these two sessions in my Bucks County PA Studio. Their first session was a maternity session where mom and dad brought their Wentzylvania shirts and I had them pose with the same football and bow we would eventually pose their little lady with for her newborn session. Which she was an absolute angel for!

I met this soon to be mama and daddy at Tyler State Park for their maternity portrait session. Mom and I talked on the phone before the session and discussed bringing along their pup, which I always encourage. I consider fur babies to be a huge part of the family and should always be included in some way.

A Few Weeks later I got to meet their adorable baby boy at my Holland PA Studio.

The Motherhood Event { Bucks County and Montgomery County PA Family Photographer }

Mommy & Me, Bucks County Photographer, Mongomery County, Abington, Willow Grove, Child Photography This year will be my second Mother's Day with my son and a lot has already changed since this time last year. A year ago I was snuggling him up in my arms for hours a day. This year I'm lucky if I can catch the little runner for a quick hug before he wiggles right back out of my arms and continues on his way. He grew as fast as everyone said he would, but it still seems unbelievable. I'm thankful for the images I have created with him as he grew. My Favorites are the shots of him and I together, because I am always taking the pictures (obviously) I rarely get in them myself, yes I'm guilty of this too. Last June I did a Nursing shoot with a friend of mine and also got a couple with him on the beach in September. The pictures that aren't taken on my phone are such a blessing to me. The clarity, color, and depth of an image taken with a real camera by a professional is an undeniable gift. I'm so happy that my calling in life was to create images to capture these quick little moments in the lives of others. These images are just glorious in print, something that phone pics rarely get made into.

It's time to upgrade from those selfies ladies. It's time to invest in a beautiful portrait of you and your child(ren). I know what you are thinking, "Once I loose the baby weight." Please stop thinking like that!  Now is the best time, trust me, those kids love you how you are, more than you know. They love your "mom bod", because you are their mom and none of that other stuff matters to them. There will always be an excuse, there will always be a reason for you to push it off. Here is a reason to stop finding reasons, they are growing so fast before you know it they will be off to college and then building a family of their own. Yes, that itty bitty baby in your arms will be off setting the world on fire with their brilliance one day. It's really going to go THAT fast. I've had enough clients return and I'm blown away by how quickly their kiddos have grow into teens.  Don't miss out on this age. Don't miss out on the tiny hands in yours and the snuggles that only mommy gets. You are their WORLD. Who really cares about a couple extra pounds when you put it in that perspective?

From now until the end of May I'm holding the Motherhood event. These are DEEPLY Discounted sessions. I'm so passionate about getting Mom in the picture with the kids that I'm giving you files and a session for the same price a normal session fee is.  The Motherhood Event is a special that can be booked any day between today and the end of May, so it's totally flexible to book according to your schedule. I will have a couple of my favorite spots to choose from so you can also choose the location! If I made this any easier I would dress you too. Oh wait, everyone who books will get a clothing guide to help you pick the best pieces for your shoot.

So what are you waiting for? If you don't hop on this someone else will and take your spot. There are always a couple popular times such as weekends and evenings that go first. I'm also a little limited on how many of these I can shoot, May is already a busy month and I only have so many covered baby sitting days. ( You know how that is right?)

Mommy and Me, Bucks County, Newtown PA, Holland PA, Willow Grove, Abington, Montgomery County PA, Photographer, Kids portraits,

It's been a while.

Hey there.    Yeah.    I've neglected this blog for a while now. Apparently raising a tiny human and running a business keeps a girl rather busy, and somethings fall by the wayside.

Lincoln will be 6 months next week. I have no idea where the last 174 days have gone, it's all a blur of diapers, sleepless nights, baby snuggles, studio sessions, editing, visits to the framer, and client meetings. Thankfully this blog, and maybe the laundry, are the only things that I really have dropped the ball on. My turn around time has been extended on wall art by a few days but otherwise we're pretty on track, I'm actually kind of proud of myself to be honest.

I do have to say I have been incredibly blessed with a really, really happy baby. Yeah, he has his moments, but don't we all? We've made it to month six, he loves baby food and still exclusively breastfeeds, this boy has quite the appetite . He hasn't quite mastered sitting up, actually he shows almost zero interest in sitting up. Lincoln, at 4 months old, did start showing interest in crawling and getting places, by 5 months he mastered scooting across my floor army crawl style. That was for sure something I wasn't at all prepared for. I thought I wouldn't have to start really baby proofing the house till at least Christmas. So now we are hopping over baby gates and trying to teach the cat how to get around them. Most of all I'm constantly running around picking up flip flops and shoes before the little speed racer can scoot himself over and chew them. Why do babies have such obsessions with eating such yucky things? Any who...

I know what you really came here for, to see pictures of my adorable child, obviously...

(Sarcasm. I'm so NOT that Mom, ok well maybe I am a little bit. )

We have big news!

If we are Facebook friends or you follow me on Instagram, you may already know this, but my husband and I have a little news to share. We are expecting our first child, arriving February 2017. We waited a little longer than average to tell everyone because I wanted to create our announcement while visiting one of our favorite places on Earth. During our Annual visit to the Outer Banks, North Carolina we set up the tripod and my camera and shot these images in less than 30 minutes. As most of you know I'm a perfectionist, and usually take much longer than 30 minutes to shoot anything, but this was our second attempt at these pictures. The day before we had gotten all dressed and ready, as we were about to walk down to the beach we ran into his parents, who were retreating from the beach because of the flies. I will tell you the weekend before we arrived, the Outer Banks was hit with Tropical Storm Hermine so this was the first sunny day and we jumped on it to do the announcement. Apparently the flies also thought it would be a great day at the beach, I had never experienced flies on the beach while in the Outer Banks before, I assume that was a result of the Tropical Storm as well as the rough ocean. So, we changed out of our picture clothes and stayed in for the night vowing to try again the next day, if the fly situation was better. Thankfully, after dinner the next day we still had light and the weather was lovely. We got changed into our picture clothes and headed to the beach. As I set up the shot and made my husband stand in as my focus point we quickly realized the flies were not done with their time at the beach. He kept swatting them from his feet and legs as they bit him and I kept telling him to stand still so I could focus. We made quick work of posing and smiling, I then had Ray take a few of just me by myself showing off my new baby bump. For years my husband has refused to touch my work camera for fear of breaking it. I was very impressed with how he framed and even focused the shot of me. These images are something I will now have forever and I will treasure as our child grows. I'm so thankful that he's more willing to use my "big Camera" as he calls it.

We headed back to the house and I quickly edited and posted our favorite couple images. We then headed out for Shave Ice to celebrate as our phones continually went off with notifications, phone calls and texts. The excitement was overwhelming. A secret I had kept for what seemed like forever was finally out. Everyone knew, I no longer had to hide my belly under big shirts, I could be comfy in my normal tshirts and tank tops. It was both liberating and so strange. I was actually pregnant, and it was finally starting to feel real.

The Wednesday after we returned home we had our Anatomy ultrasound scheduled. We had decided it would be fun to find out what we were having surrounded by our families, including a few who had to skype in. We didn't look at the Ultrasound photos and put them directly into an envelope. We took at envelope to the baker I use for my cake smash cakes. He was the only one who really knew what we were having until this past Sunday when we cut open the awesome cake he made.

Since we are Disney Nerds I decided that our theme would be "Are you a Mickey or a Minnie?" and I created a few cute cake toppers with my Cricut machine. The Family arrived and we had dinner, all while the folks who were skyping in were chomping at the bit to get their phone calls.  Finally it was time.

We cut out a slice of cake, as we made the second cut and pulled the knife out I spotted it, the tiny little smudge of the interior icing on the knife and I couldn't believe I was right. I was the only one who saw that smudge and as I lifted the slice out of the cake, the cheers erupted that we are having a little BOY!

Gender Reveal Cake Wonderlandportrait.com

My gut and every other "guess the gender of your baby" old wives tale said I was having a girl. If I've ever attempted to guess what you were having you know that I'm wrong 99% of the time. So, I decided early on that If my gut thinks it's a girl I must actually be having a boy. Low and behold my logic was right and my gut was totally wrong. We made our little announcement on Facebook and Instagram and once again for the second time in 2 weeks our phones went crazy. I still can't believe how many people are so incredibly excited for us, and I'm so thankful to be surrounded by so many loving incredible folks.

As far as how I'm doing, I can't really complain. I was a little nauseous in the beginning but no morning sickness. I did get hit with a wall of exhaustion from the start and I've been functioning at 50% the last few months. I'm finally starting to feel a bit better with that, I'm no longer knocked out at 2pm everyday like I had been everyday for the first trimester. I'm still not 100% myself but I'm getting closer everyday. I had never felt exhaustion like that before in my life, I was falling asleep sitting up, like someone had slipped me a sleeping pill.   I also really hope this little guys arrives with a full head of hair or all this heartburn really isn't fair. Haha. All in all we're doing really well and we can't wait to meet our little man.

Obviously I will be taking the month of February off this coming year, January will be a very limited calendar as well, which surprisingly is almost booked up. I will be shooting Christmas Portraits from November 1st-Novemeber 30th only. December I will be able to accommodate Birthdays, Newborns, Maternity, Families and Milestone sessions on a limited basis.

I will continue to post updates on both the studio schedule and our little man, so stay tuned!

Outdoor Family Sessions Bucks County PA

Print It's that time of year again, the week after the Fourth of July when summer seems to start coming to an end. Very soon we will see school supplies in Target and recent graduates on their way off to college. It seems Summer is ending earlier and earlier every year and pumpkin spice shows up before we know it.

Now is when I encourage families to get together for their annual family portraits, before the kids go off to college and the little ones start their busy school sport schedules.  The end of Summer is a beautiful time for a family portrait, the parks are bathed in lush green foliage, and  the botanical gardens are still blooming. The beautiful greens really look amazing hanging on the wall as a canvas or framed portrait and even in the dead of winter, remind you of the warm summer sunshine.

Family sessions include multiple shots of the family all together as well as smaller groups and individuals of the kids. Not only is the end of summer a great time for families but equally great for maternity portraits and annual portraits of just the kids. We are so lucky to live in beautiful Bucks County PA. We have access to fields of golden grasses and wild flowers as well as amazing botanical gardens and even urban areas. Bucks County has really great diversity when it comes to photo shoot locations.  Here are some images from some of my favorite outdoor summer sessions. Enjoy!

Baby D Newtown PA Newborn Photography

Baby D was such a little sweetheart for his session, he didn't give me any trouble at all. We even got a chance to grab some outdoor shots while he was at my Holland Studio. Outdoor Newborn portraits are really becoming a favorite of mine, with this new green space right out my back door, these shots are even more convenient than ever.

Mom & Dad C | Newtown PA Maternity Photographer

I have had the pleasure of knowing and photographing this couple for a few years now, and I was super excited when I heard they were expecting. If they look familiar it is probably because I photographed their pregnancy announcement back in December (you can view it here). I always go back and forth with my clients to figure out what really will fit them as far as style. I asked this "mom-to-be" if she would like to do some wrapped style shots and she was all about it, I quickly suggested that because of her red hair we wrap her in green, and I'm so happy I did. I can't even express how in love with this session I am. Miss C is 3 | Doylestown Birthday Photographer

I've been Photographing little Miss C since she was 9 months old. It's always amazing to me how quickly these little folks grow up, it's exciting that every time I get to see them they are always bigger and more mature. When we scheduled this session for her third birthday portraits, in the back of my mind I was hoping that my favorite field of wild flowers would be in bloom. These Virginia Blue Bells only bloom for around one week in the spring, with the crazy warm weather we had a few week earlier I couldn't be sure I would be able to promise the wild flowers ahead of time. We really got lucky and the whole field was in full bloom! I had such fun photographing this session and I'm really happy with the results!

Baby C on the way!

Generally after the big Christmas rush of November and December I don't often get to photograph sessions for New Years, this year was a little different. I've photographed this couple and their fur-baby Addie for their Christmas card photo for years now. This year we opted for a New Years card with a wonderful and exciting message inside. We decided that their New Years card would be the perfect opportunity to announce their BIG New Years resolutions, both Addie & Mom and Dad. 2016 is going to welcome a new bundle on joy into their lives and I couldn't be happier for them. I can't wait to meet their little Price or Princess (AKA Addie's New little Human) Happy New Year Everyone!

A New Wonderland for A New Year

newyear2016 The New Year is upon us folks. This past year has been unbelievably wonderful for me and my little business. I've met some great new people and photographed so many wonderful families, it's hard to believe how lucky I am. Everyday I get to do what I love, much of that is due to my clients who love my work and are so very dedicated to Wonderland Portrait Boutique, but I would never be where I am today if it wasn't for my Husband. Yeah, I got one of those this year too (Finally). It was a huge year for us, we had a quick small ceremony back in May and I wouldn't have done it any differently. He supports me and all my crazy ideas, weather it be painting our home in crazy bright colors with a hint of princess involved or my crazy leaps of faith in Business. For the last twelve years he has always been there to lend an ear, or tell me that I'm wrong, (very very wrong sometimes) and set me on a better path. Over the past few weeks I've been incredibly Quiet both here on my blog and my Facebook page. The 2015 Christmas season was the biggest I've had so far and it was wonderful seeing all of my regulars and a few new faces as well. Now some of those folks know a few of the awesome changes for 2016, but not all of you do. The past few weeks have been filled with not only Christmas sessions but tedious planning and designing the new Face of Wonderland Portrait Boutique.

Facebook-Cover-1

2016 is bringing many changes to my business. One of those First changes is my new logo, I finally broke down and let a professional handle it, and I'm so happy that I did, because I am in love with this New Logo. Along with the new logo we now have a little mascot that will be gracing many of flyers, handouts, and even my website. I think he is absolutely adorable and I feel like he really needs a name, so maybe in the spring we'll have a big naming contest.

I've been a busy little bee designing all new handouts, so you won't have to rely on a PDF that is going to get lost in the sea of emails in your inbox anymore. That's right a real tangible paper handout, it's an oddity these days but so much more efficient. Speaking of efficient, I've also put work into making communication more effective on my end. I've set up auto sending emails, for everything from Outfit suggestions to general before session information and session reminders.

This past Fall I sent out a survey and had overwhelming responses to guide me into this New Year. Based on the answers I've made modifications to many of our studio policies and packaging structures. First the New Year will bring a new simplified package structure. I've narrowed down my two most popular options, Digital files only and Create your own collection, which gives you Wall Art or an Album as well as All your Digital Negatives in the Size that best suits your needs. In 2015 Create your own Collection was THE MOST POPULAR Package by far.  We will also be carrying gorgeous new High End Pro albums in the studio, they are completely customizable with a ton of beautiful cover and page options  and will last for centuries to come. Another Policy that will be Modified late spring early summer is the View & Order, I hope by then to be able to offer my clients same day View & Orders. This will be available on most sessions but of course there are some sessions that take much more editing than others, such as Newborn sessions. The closer to the launch of the Same Day View & Order the more details I will have for all of you.

Now for the big news, in a few weeks I will be moving the studio about 5 minutes from my current location. As Much as I love the charm of the older building that I am in, I knew it was time to move on to a location with a higher amount of foot traffic. My hope for 2016, is to grow my business, and hopefully with all the great new things mentioned above we will grow by leaps and bounds. The Studio will now be located in Holland PA, I will also have Office Space in this location allowing me to work right in the studio everyday, which will mean I will have regular hours for folks to stop in and have a consult or pick up. Sessions will still be by appointment only so that I can fully dedicate my time to each client and their family. The new space will also allow me to take on larger family session during the winter months, which was not always possibly in my past smaller shooting areas.

2016 is going to be huge for us, I can feel it. I can't wait to see everyone this year and create beautiful art with all of my wonderful clients.

Happy New Year everyone!

Keep up on the all of the exciting new things on our Facebook and Instagram
